A friend of my huband’s gave us a memory box with a place for the first curl, tooth, and hospital bracelet.. and you can put a picture of the baby on the top of the box.

At the hospital my 3rd child was delived at, they give each baby a teddy bear. Since she was a girl, her’s was made from pink gingham. On the front it has her name, vitals, and people the delivered her. On the back are her newborn footprints. She’s now 5 and still plays with it sometimes. I’ve gotten alot of neat baby gifts, but this was so unexpected that its my favorite. My second was the christening outfit my aunt made my eldest. I’ve used it with my girls and treasure it.

I have a bunch of gifts that i love… all the blankets and clothes that everyone made me! It makes you feel so good knowing that people care so much they want to make something.. and i actually do like things people make, lol… Or the picture frame “mom+dad=me” with openings for a 3 of us
I am very lucky and my parents bought the crib I wanted. It was not overly expensive, but it was the one I wanted. It is a beautiful sleigh style and is a 4 in 1. I love it!
well, i dont really like it very much, but my aunt knitted a baby suit for my daughter, its purple, and i doubt i’ll ever put her in it, but i really appreciated her going through the trouble. x
The most practical thing I recieved was warm fleece car seat covers………..i live in Alaska and with twin newborns it was a godsend! But the gift that will stick with me always is actually from my doctor. She got these handpainted ceramic booties with my boys information on them! I love them, I will be able to keep them always.
Oh and I think diapers are a crap gift. Yeah they are usable and everything………but I liked things that I wouldn’t normally buy!
If this is your first, trust me, the best gift you will get will be a diaper genie!
We liked ours so much we bought a 2nd one for upstairs!

You folks can clean up dirty diapers all you want. The diper genie was still a good gift!
I have three favorites. My personal trainer gave me a hand made beaded bracelet that spells out my son’s name. My mother in law bought me the stroller and car seat I wanted. My gf made me a freakin cool teddy bear that has my son’s on it.

The one that is the most special was a quilt made by my grandmother. When I finally got around to getting pregnant my grandmother was well into her 90′s and had Alzheimer’s. My mother said when my brother had his son she made my grandmother make two of them so she would have one for my child when I had him. I totally cried at my baby shower when I got it…
Second was time. People that came over after he was born and cooked and cleaned and helped take care of him and made me go take a nap…et.
