i think that the one with all of the baby medications is the best thing ever. forgot what it’s called… i think it’s “Baby’s First Relief Kit”… gives an idea of what mother should get from then on… helps out tremendously….good luck!!!

I liked those Johnson and Johnson baby kits. But I wish someone gave me what I make for babyshowers. I make a little starter kit. Since most ppl give clothes daipers and such, I make a little starter kit (and it’s great if the baby show is going to be before the baby is born)Heres an idea of what i put into them:
    - baby shampoo
    -baby bubble bath
    -baby bursh
    -baby nail clippers
    -baby gums cleaner
    -baby lotion
    -soothers
    -baby soup
    -baby facecloths
    -baby hooded towel
    things like that.

well the best gift i got aside from a crib and changetable (grandparents gift) i guess was a baby swing,,,,expensive gifts out of the way help alot a new parent financially…however for a more affordable gift the best gifts i got were generally a handmade basket with a bunch of little things i would need wrapped up (examples rattles, bottles, facecloths, etc.) whenever i shop on the registrys i always by a bunch of the cheapest stuff on there registry and package it in a creative way….it takes the stress of the parents knowing theres alot less on the registry leftover to buy after the shower….especially since alot of ppl unfortunatly dont always follow the registry and you end up buying alot on it anyway

My favorite gift was the diaper bag my son’s godfather’s fiance got for us. It is the perfect size, made out of leather rather than vinyl, and has a 1yr warranty on it. It’s Carter’s brand. It has huge side pockets. It also came with a bunch of great accesories. I believe she got it at Babies R Us. She actually got me my 2nd favorite gift as well… it is this “Swaddle Me” blanket made by kidopautomus (sp?). I’m horrible at swaddling, so this makes things much easier. It is the perfect shape and size, and has velcro to hold everything in place. I acutally went out and bought a couple more! They were about $10 at Babies R Us.
I got so many of those baby kits, plus the contents of them seperately that I’m afraid I’ll NEVER use everything. I’d go for something a little less generic. That is probably one of the first gifts that will be given by someone who doesn’t know what to get.

When ever I go to a baby shower this is what I give.
A small laundry basket or hamper, a pack of baby hangers, the baby laundry spray, and deturgent, and one outfit.
No one ever things of these things and everyone needs them.
by the way you can put every thing in the basket to wrap, it looks really cute.

At the time I loved getting all the clothes, but now she has way too many clothes I can hardly get her into all of them before she grows them out.
My Aunt got me this really cool diaper/supply cake thing. She made it herself. She got a plastic plate for the base, then rolled diapers and put them on the bottom for a layer of the cake, then blankets for the second layer. It had a little bit of everything stuck in it like bottles, pacifiers, onesies. It looked really cool, all to be made to look like a cake

the best gift i got was a basket full of the essentials … lotions , wash clothes , wipes , bibs , baby wash , diapers , socks , onesies etc, etc .
now the most unusual gift i got was “pee pee tee pee’s ” . need less to say i had a boy and these little things were handie. when i went to change his diapers i would put one of these over his lil thing and it kept him coverd just in case he dicided he wanted to pee on me . :D

Get her some swaddling blankets and some sleep sacks. Nobody ever thinks of those because they’re too busy buying all the soaps and stuff like that. My baby is 3 and a half months old and I haven’t had to buy shampoo, soap, or lotion yet.
A couple packs of diapers are always appreciated as well.

My favorite gift as something I put on the wish list, because it was under 30 dollars
    It was a play blank
It was not plastic, but was water proof, and had an mirror, toys and places for picture
I gave to the lady down the block, she does daycare
She loves the blanket, she washes

my favorite gift would have to be my rocking glider chair. it has just helped so many restless nights and made feeding easy and fun. that’s on the expensive side though.
so if you’re not going that route my other favorite would be either my memory boxes that area full from things from the hospital and first home days or his play gym.

i dont have any kids, nor do i want any, but my cousin is having a baby in sept. i think i might get her a starter kit from gbaby.com ( i think that’s the link). it’s diapers that are biodegradable. (they biodegradable in 150 days) and are flushable . check out the web site…. i thought it was a good idea.

I didn’t get anything as I’m from the UK and we don’t do baby showers. Boo :-(
I think I would have loved all the little bits like tooth and curl boxes and little clothes etc. Oh and money saving things like nappies and weaning spoons etc.

For my third baby, we had a scrapbook baby shower. It was neat. Everyone made a page for the scrapbook. But – I never got an actual scrapbook. My daughter is now 18 months old and I still don’t have it all together yet. Maybe one of these days!!!

At the time, it was kind of dull, but nothing was better than getting diapers, it has saved us a ton of money.

  18. Megan F says:

the best and most creative gift was my diaper cake. i loved it so much ive started making them myself && selling them.

  19. Arianna M says:

that sounds good or how about a blanket with the babys name on it if they already know what it’s going to be?

  20. Volks says:

The baby kits are good, but they usually contain things that won’t ever get used.
What I liked the most was a bag I got from a co-worker. It wasn’t a diaper bag, just a cloth bag with drawstrings that could be worn like a backpack. I liked this gift the most because I could use it for diapers, wipes, and clothes when I had young ones, but now my youngest is 5 and I still use it a lot. It’s great for going to the beach or an amusement park.
She got it at Old Navy, but this was 8 years ago, so I can’t say if they still sell them.
Has she registered at a store? If so, pick something off the list. If not, give her clothing for the baby, but in a size 3-6 mo or 6-9 months. The reason I say this is that 0-3 fits for a VERY short amount of time, and some never wear that size at all. My two were both over 9 lbs each and only fit into 0-3 for a couple of weeks. Plus, there was no need for cute things then…we were just at home getting to know each other!
In addition to that, nearly everyone who buys clothes will buy a newborn size, yours will get more use and will be a great thing when the mom wakes up one morning and realizes that all the baby’s clothes don’t fit anymore!
Or just go with diapers (again in a little larger size, like size 2)…they’re sure to get used.

Diapers, baby hangers, baby detergent and stain remover were the best gifts I received…i had so many outfits, but non of them were on hangers in the box or gift bag so I ended up having to spend more money on hangers for them all than the outfits were worth it seemed. The stain remover and detergent you can never have enough of, the same with diapers. It seemed like I was always doing laundry and trying to get a formula stain out. So I think you’ll be safe, not to mention life saver, if you show up with these gifts. Good luck!

besides all the essentials, i have started to give this as a baby gift, because i loved the thing, its not a necessity at all. its something different that will last a baby to he is a young child. its a sleep b turtle nightlight. you can look it up at sleep b.com, they have other gifts also, that are great too but i feel in love with the turtle and lady bug. They project stars and constellations. For only $34.00. now i sound like a sales rep which i am defintley not just a mommy whose kids loves the stars. they sell them at other stores, the website will display retailers in your area. On Shine- they just had a article on what not to give – i agree with all of them except the high chair. Esp. the diaper Genie- i hate them!
I forgot i just did this i got a canvas backet from babies r us, and bought a few things – sleeper, onesies, and blanket, baby lotion and soap and of course the turtle and put it all in the basket and have tissue all around and now im going to get some cellaphane and tie it with a ribbon and give it to a great girl friend i have this weekend for the shower- my husband even loved it the-it was a lavendar basket and all the outfits were purple so it all blended really well. and you can put more or less in the basket depending on your budget.
