definatly a diaper changing station… i have a 12 day old baby,,and still have not used my diaper genie….just been using the garbage…but the changing table has saved on our backs alot!!
I have heard from several people that the book
Babywise: Giving your infant the gift of nighttime sleep by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam is amazing. This book tells you how to get you newborn baby to sleep through the night. It is available at amazon.com. Definately worth it!!!
a cute t shirt for me that is a match of my babys
so we are twinsys
I loved the Halo wearable blanket for my babies. I would just put a shirt on baby and then the sleeper blanket. I didn’t have to worry about snapping up a bunch of buttons when they needed changed since it zips up and baby can’t pull it over the face.
My second little girl loved her swing. Could not have lived without it. SHe also loved having one of theose white noise machines. The sounds covered up noisey kids outside and it had several different sounds to choose from to help her sleep.
Lots and lots of diapers!!
The only things you’ll really need are a crib, clothes, diapers(and wipes), and bottles(if you’re not breastfeeding). A rocking chair is nice. A change table isn’t really necessary, a towel or mat on the floor works just as well without the chance of baby falling off. And a car seat to bring baby home
That’s so hard, they were all useful!
My mom and aunts went in together to buy the pack & play, infant car seat, and swing. Those were probably used the most.
(You can’t have too many onsies for a newborn!!)
No-so-useful…. wipes warmer and diaper genie. I don’t think I ever used them.
I am not a mom – but have plenty of freidns who have had babies. I always give them diapers for at least a three month old, deft detergine, and clothes for three months and older. I also drop in the mail a WalMart gift card at about 4 months old.
Most people give newborn stuff at baby shower, and have been privately thanked by my friends for thinking down the road.
Congrats and good luck!
A diaper wipe warmer….My baby loves it.If they are not warm it makes them jump.
All of them! they were all very useful. Car seat, lots of nappies, high-chair, bouncy, recieving blankets, clothes. I think I utilised all the gifts I received.
Wish you all the best and congradulations!
This will sound a little strange but something that no one thinks of is tylenol and gas drops. They are good to have around so you are not having to find a store open at 3am when you do need it. For the first few weeks you will want lots of sleepers that zip or button up the front, it takes time to learn to get something over there heads.
i find i got to many diapers and clothing i think gift cards are the way to go or story books that you can read to the baby you can start even before they are born
I’ve heard nursery organizers are helpful. Along with clothes. Mostly onesies in all different sizes. Bobby’s are helpful when you’re feeding.
My friend got these things to put in her bra to help collect excess milk leakage (they look like saucers or breast implants, but were made of plastic). She got them at the hospital and they can be useful if you don’t want to waste any milk if you decide to breast feed.
Believe it or not, my favorite gift was a laundry basket full of diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby oil, baby wash, baby Tylenol, baby nail clippers, baby oral gel, etc. Everything I would ever need the first year. It was amazing!! I never had to run out to the store when my baby had gas, or was teething I had everything already at home.
One thing I never thought of until it was 3am, with a 3 week old screaming baby. Infant Tylenol or Infant Motrin! If you do get stuck w/o medicine, a cool bath is what worked for us to get the fever down… Just a tip in case you need it.
Other things I didn’t think of being a 1st time mom, nursing pads, milk storage bags (if you plan to nurse) and Cloth diapers-they are great burp clothes- a much better size than regular burp clothes. Good luck and congrats!
a baby carrier, the backpack kind, that can be worn on the stomach or back, it was great! and also a swaddling blanket. 2 must haves if you ask me. i got a wipe warmer, too, i used mine, and i think my son really appreciated it!!!! diaper genies are a waste of money, trash cans with revolving lids work just as good and cost a lot less!
Swing. My first lived in it after my C- section, I couldn’t do the stairs.
Diapers are great.
changing table
bath tub
pack n’ play
bottles, cups, plates, bowls, silverware
for when she’s older think about one of those
doorway bouncers
baby gym
high chair
I think it’s best to go through with a friend and just scan things as you peruse the store, you get a good laugh and can see how things work like the strollers and such.
wow….with a first child I found everything useful!
Play saucer – for when baby is old enough to sit up
Clothing, clothing, clothing!!!
Diapers (sizes other than newborn!)
Wipes
Lots of socks
Pacifiers
Bottles (the type you prefer to use)
Receiving blankets – several
Heavy/warm blankets
Crib Bedding
Mobile
Symphony CD’s to soothe baby
playpen
Baby Monitor (with battery back up, as well as plug in)
Rocking chair
Swing
Bouncer chair
if you’re nursing –
Cloth diapers as burp cloths (very absorbent easy to clean)
Breast pump
I guess the list could go on – but these are the things I could think of quickly
Best wishes!!!
My pack and play. I use it and use it and use it. It has a top part that is like a bassinet and I used that till my son was about 4 months old for naps and changing him. It also has a changing table piece. Now I use it for sleeping when we travel. I have the Graco Pack and Play.. It is very similar to this one except I didn’t get Pooh. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=…
I can’t say I had just one. Mine were a swing, I call it a bouncy seat, it’s that seat you put them in it sits on the floor and vibrates, diapers of various sizes(they don’t stay small forever), and the feety PJs. Good luck!
Ive only got a month still to go, until my little baby girl arrives. I can feel my nesting instincts start.
