What Is The Best Gift To Get A Mother For A Baby Shower?

Most people get all of these things but the mother or baby doesn’t need them after a certain period. I would like to give something she is going to need later but nobody thought to get.

Get her a certificate at your local professional photographer’s studio. Every mother who just had a baby would love to have photos to give to their family & friends. She’ll appreciate the thoughtful gift and have those photos forever! Unique, practical & thoughtful. If it’s too expensive just pay for the sitting fee or go in on the portriats with another friend or family member. Handmade hats & booties are always special. If you know someone who can custom make something you could give a gift certificate to the mom and have the hat and sweater made for the special baby. My mom’s sewing teacher made a big fleece winnie the pooh blanket did a blanket stitch around the edge.(not infant sized) and have the baby’s name & birthdate embroidered on the blanket after the baby arrives. We still use it to this day my son is five. Most baby blankets get used only the first 6-9 months.

A baby never outgrows baby wash, powder, lotions, infant fingernail clippers, or diapper rash cream. All babies use these items. My daughter will be 3 in October and uses all but the diapper rash cream. Also, don’t leave the mother out. Get her a gift basket w/ good smelling bath salts, candles, massage oil, etc. If you want to buy an expensive item, a glider rocker is always useable. We now have ours in our living room.

here are some nice things i was given:
outfits for baby to wear from size newborn to 2. he’s up to size 1 and i like to think of my dear friend each time i dress him in one of her outfits.
a mummy sized light blanket for night time feeds and cuddles on the couch with baby (have used it every night for last 11mths and love it!)
classical music cd – beneficial for baby to sleep to, and is relaxing for mummy too.
earrrings (not dangly ones), perfume and nail polish for mummy – helps you remember you are a woman too, not just a mum
face washers – they’ll be used for decades.
single bed sized flat sheets – can be used in the cot/crib and on toddler bed so baby can use it until they move out of home as adults.

A nightlight for the babies room as they’ll have it for a few years is a possibility. I try and get my friends classic children’s books that they would have had as child. It’s something they can share with their child, like the Hungry Catapillar or Where the Wild Things Are. One other thing that will last a long time is a photograph, could give her a voucher to have a canvas printed up after baby is born.

My babyshower is coming up and I know no ones going to get this but it’ll be a great help!
    Bottle rack
    bottle cleaning tools
    most ppl buy clothes
    diapers & give gift cards
but a bottle station would be great it helps the mom out alot with keeping the bottles clean and made and handy and organized

great gifts are something very useful that most ppl won’t think of; i would suggest ‘swaddle me’ wraps, ‘piddle pads’, or a ‘snuzzler’ all by kiddopotamus and at babies r us; they are great…
snuzzler makes it more comfy for a small baby in a car seat when they are so small; piddle pads keep diaper accidents from getting on the car seat or stroller so there is easier clean up; and the wraps are self-explanatory…..
if she’s using a crib, check out the zip sheets at diapers.com; they are awesome!! hth
