What Is Appropriate Gift For A Friend’s Baby’s Christening?
I’m going to a Catholic christening for a friend’s baby. Then we’re going to a reception afterwards at an Italian restaurant in NY (my friend is Italian). Is it customary to give a monetary gift (if so, about how much?) or would 2 toys for the baby be ok?
you can give them a picture frame, gift card, cash or saving bonds or a toy. my son is having his christen this sunday and we are having alittle party afterwards with our family and friends but they don’t have to get anything for my son if they don’t want to because what means the most to me is that they are sharing this special day with my son.
Well bring a bottle of wine you need it to do the christening and then you swing it and break it on the baby ummmm no I think that is christening of a boat? Ops! Let me see um, well I’m not Catholic so I really have no idea? You can give them enough money to buy a new Italian sport car? i know it might seem a bit soon but I’m sure the baby will enjoy it once it’s 16 or old enough to drive it.
We bought our niece a children’s picture bible and a CD of traditional Christian music (Go Tell It On the Mountain, Amazing Grace, etc.). I’ve also seen clothing and toys as popular gifts, but I think it should be related to religion. Maybe a Noah’s Ark or something similar like that.
You could get the baby a rosary bracelet, you can find them at most catholic bookstores (google them). If not that, then you can get them a picture frame that says “Baby’s Baptism” or similar.
Toys are fine…otherwise maybe something religion-oriented–a picture frame with a cross on it?? I’ve given piggy-banks before too.
