What Is A Good Baby Shower Gift For Under $20?

One or two really nice baby books are thoughtful and would be within your budget. Not many people think of books and when they do people really appreciate them. Most of the suggestions that were made here are already well over $20, so good luck!

Pre-folded cloth diapers. Even if the parents plan on using disposables, those pre-folds are great for so many things other than daipering (burp rags, dust rags, etc).
A gift certificate for a favorite restaurant is also an excellent idea. Everyone wants to get the cute baby clothes and the bath stuff (I think I got enough bath stuff at my shower to last at least a year, if not two) but the parents will appreciate a good meal cooked by someone else after the baby comes.
You can usually find memory books, scrap books, or photo albums for pretty cheap on sale (and even not on sale many of them are under $20). And most hand print kits are under $20 and can make a great memento (if not for the new parents then for grandparents, aunts, or uncles).
Safety locks for cabinets and drawers, safety covers for doorknobs, safety covers for electrical outlets, and safety covers for stove knobs are all things that new parents will need eventually and you can usually get enough to baby-proof a whole kitchen for under $20.

I gave my best friend (I added it to a bigger present, but I think it is so valued by itself) a baby lucky charm pin as a baby shower gift. She like it so much and thought it was the best gift she got (I think she liked it better than the bigger present I bought for her). It is really cute I bought it from BabyAnywhere.com and it is in your budget! Good luck!

The best gifts are ones that will get USED, not just cute stuff. I gave a friend a package of Medela microwave sanitizing bags (About $6 I think) and a package of bottle inserts that have ziplock tops (don’t remember the price- under $10) so you can pump and then freeze or store formula in the fridge and then just pop it into one of those playtex bottles. Both are good for either breastfeeding or bottle feeding and both are incredibly convenient- my friend said that of everything she got, she used my gifts the most!

$20 will actually buy a nice amount. I would stick with a theme for the gift.
    1. wipes, head to toe wash, washclothes
    2. bottles, nipples, burp clothes
    3. a lot of the little toys like a rattler, teether, etc
    4. a bath towel set. Target had a cute set for only 17 that each had a theme like ducks or they had just hooded towels for 10. You could buy the 10 one with some Johnsons head to toe wash.
    5. the other gift I got that I loved was a shag blanket that Target had for only 17. It was absolutely adorable and one of my favorite gifts I received.
No, I don’t work for Target or get any money for saying their name. I just really liked some of the things I got from them.

For my baby shower someone got me two frames and a coupon for baby’s first portrait. They also put $5 in the frame to get me started. I found it so thoughtful and unique and everyone remarked at how clever my friend was. :)
