Yes I think if you are going to go to the hospital you should bring a gift but most new mothers prefer to actually leave the visits until they are at home because the last thing you want to deal with when your tired and sore is 100 people.

One thing I remember about the hospital is having to carry a bunch of stuff home with stiches and a new baby. A blanket may be perfect because they can just throw it in the carseat with the little guy. Or a card with flowers and send them a gift later.
Gifts are appropriate for such an occasion, but aren’t a requirement. You can either bring the mother flowers, or something for the baby like a rattle or a blanket or something small like that.
It doesn’t have to be an expensive gift – but a small token would be a lovely gesture. Why not buy a baby gift that is both useful and pretty. Like a pair of baby socks folded to look like flowers?
