a spa package for the mommy either pre or post partum
Personally I like to try and get all the little things no one thinks about. Gas drops, baqby tylonel, cotton swabs, diaper disposial bags, baby vasaline, shout wipes, ButtPaste, Disposible changing pads (for bathroom changing tables yucky) mini hand sanitizers. That sort of thing. Or you can get a couple waffle weave blankets, the kola ones are awsome big enough to swaddle the biggest baby and sooo soft they are at babys r us. OR you can get a gift card or something from the regestry. Honestly clothes and diapers are a bad idea. Babys out grow the newborn and size 1 diapers really fast and newborn and 0-3 month clothes are pretty much a waste as the kid will outgrow them quickly and probibly not be able to wear everything. If you get diapers go for a small package of size 1 if you want to get a box get size 2′s. Good luck.
you can never go wrong with diapers and wipes, but if you think you should do something to go along with that then get a diaper bag and fill it full of goodies(very inexpencive) like baby lotions, baby bath, pacifiers , bottles, wipes and diapers, and throw in a lotion for the mom to be,
make a diaper cake you can find the instructions on line just google diaper cake they are really neat and you can add a lot of your own ideas in there
Gift card, diapers or wipes, cant go wrong there!!!
If you’re good friends with the person, what i do is get something small for the shower so i have a gift, some of my best friends i’ve actually not taken anything to the shower. After the shower i say what do you need, then i go get, with both of mine i got so much of the same thing, i didn’t need it. Like my son ended up with, yes i counted it, 36 newborn outfits, seriously they don’t need THAT many not as much as you have to do laundry with a baby. Also if you want to go ahead and get something good and not wait, do the the person suggested a basket. I did it for my friend who was having twins a boy and a girl. I got a huge basket one side was for the boy one for the girl. I did comb/brush set, travel wipe box, soaps, socks, small stuff that you can’t get enough of or most people don’t think of. I also put a small amout gift card in just in case she needs something else.
I like to pack a small wicker laundry basket with baby necessities, not glamorous, but very practical and you can make it pretty. Take the basket and add a pack of baby clothes hangers, a lingerie wash bag (keeps tiny socks from getting lost in the wash), some A&D ointment and anti-gas drops, Gentle formula baby wash, a set of drip/spit clothes or cloth diapers for drips (I sew them into squares) and then I put in a baby towel that I make from a REAL size towel, the baby ones are useless, you take the matching washcloth, stitch the top seam to make a hood then attach it to the towel. This all goes into the basket with cute little verses tied to the items, then I wrap the entire thing up in pink or blue tulle drawn together at the top in a big pouf.
Works great, practical and baby has his/her own wash basket.
i would say clothes, bottles dummies all that sort of thing or maybe baby toys
I agree with the whole gift basket of necessities, plus the gift card. Either way. However, if you fall in love with a cute outfit or something, don’t buy anything smaller than six months! I got newborn sizes at all three of my showers and hated it because I knew they’d grow out of it in a month or less and it was just a waste of money….money that could be spent on clothes they’d actually wear. Oh…and you can’t go wrong with packs of onesies…3-6 mos, 6-9, and 12 mos. A soft blanket’s always good. Lots of socks, too.
my baby is 3months old now, the biggest lifesavers for me were a boppy it is a horseshoe looking thing that the mom lays the baby on when she breastfeeds, a swaddle which you wrap the baby in and if they are fussy they instantly fall asleep its like being in the tummy for them and of course diapers. trust me they will thank you in the end with these 3 items.
Put together a ‘Baby’s First Meal’ kit. One day in a few months they will want to give baby their first foods, and will be ever thankful to have everything they need on hand. Rice cereal, spoons, an assortment of caned fruits and veggies, bibs (the big kind), a baby cookbook, beginner baby cookies and rice puffs, sippy cups, a supply of washcloths (for the mess).
Another idea is to do a bath kit. Use a baby bathtub as a gift basket and fill it with super soft towels and washcloths, bath toys, different kinds of baby soaps and lotions, a few pairs of cozy PJ’s).
Other things that I couldn’t have lives without are : one of those cozy fleece covers that go on a car seat (depending on when baby is due/ climate where you are), an exersaucer, a bouncy seat, musical mirror that is for the car, a playmat (one that converts for when they get a bit bigger is best).
-Wipes warmer
-baby wipes
-Diapers
-Diaper pail/diaper genie
-baby first aid kit
-loads of bibs
-Cloth diapers as burp cloths
- Make up a pack of baby products as a gift. Powder, lotion, shampoo etc
Pretty much everybody going to a baby shower will bring diapers and toys and general baby things. You can never go wrong with it really because they’ll be needing plenty of it.
A nice alternative is a mom gift, instead of a baby gift. Things to help her relax, bubble bath, chocolate, a day at the spa/manicure something she’ll really enjoy. You could also write a card offering a free night on the town, for her and her man while you stay in with the baby, because lord knows they wont get enough of that once the mommy thing is in full swing.
