Suggestions For The Best Baby Girl Gift Ever.?
My daughter made me a grand mother today. I have been pondering getting her/them something very special. I would like some suggestions from all of you parents and grand parents out there. What is the best gift you have ever received in helping you with a brand new baby girl.
The gift that made my life easier and i don’t think i could have lived without was my boppy pillow. It made nursing her and rocking her at 2am much easier. It was great to set on the middle of my bed and set her in the middle so i could read, or fold laundry or anything else that she could watch me. It came in handy when she was learning to sit by herself too! The gift that i got that was really neat to have, and reduced alot of guilt, was a baby’s first year calander. It had stickers for every first imaginable, i could just stick to the appropriate date. It also had a little place to keep track of her eating habits too. A big help for doctors appointments early on. CONGRATS!!! Go GRANDMA!
Gifts that made my life easier- baby carriers. There are quite a few gorgeous one’s out there that are waay too expensive for my budget, but I would love to have.
Neat gifts- one of my dear friends gave me a simple journal. In it she wrote thoughts about me, and how she thought I’d be as a mom, and then she said that the rest of the pages were for me to fill with memories and thoughts as my little one grew up. It currently has letters I’ve written to my children, funny comments they’ve said, things they have done that have been touching and wonderful, and also some ornery things too (2 yr old son in the kitchen, emptying an entire bottle of chocolate syrup on the floor, the dog, and himself- pics were priceless, but the words captured it better)
Anything personalized, we have some items from Things remembered- one for each child.
Another gift that I love is anything handmade by my family or friends (my sister makes each baby a fleece blanket- nothing fancy, but loved because she makes them). I also received a beautiful boutique quality blanket and burp cloth from my sister-in-law. Those items are favorites.
The best gift I received was from my mom. She made a dress for my daughter out of the leftover material from my wedding dress. Though what I really appreciated the most from her was the time she spent at my house the first week or two helping me. She cooked us supper, did my laundry, all the things that I just didn’t have time to do so I could spend more time cuddling with my new baby.
If your looking for something that will make their life easier maybe a moby wrap, or bouncy chair or swing if they don’t have those things yet. If you want to give them something special as a keepsake maybe a baby bracelet with the baby’s name engraved or a first year calender/journal if they don’t have one yet.
Well as I am assuming she already has most of the things she *needs* why not a gift certificate for your daughter? For a massage. Or pedicure. She is going to need it. And with that, a gift certificate to babysit.
For the baby, something personalized with the information from the birth. We got something similar to this http://www.celebrateexpress.com/Birthday…
for our daughter. Its a nice keepsake. And cute for the nursery.
Congrats on becoming a grandma!!!
Aww congratulations! Anything personalized is nice. The best gift I received for my son was a beautiful hand knit blanket and snowsuit. It really meant a lot that the person took the time to make it for us. If you knit, thats a wonderful gift to give someone…especially your own daughter!
Also, if you kept anything from your daughter when she was a baby (baby clothes, sheets, blankets), you could pass it down to her. That is a very sentimental gift and I’m sure she would love it! I know I would love it more then any store bought gift!
A humidifier, to help get through the first cold! It will (as you know) thin the mucus , making it easier for the baby to breathe.
EDIT:
Actually the Angelcare Deluxe would be the best gift! We love it. It senses movement and will tell you if the baby stops breathing for 20 seconds with an alarm. An alarm will also sound if the room’s temperature gets too high. Finally, it has a great monitor and picks up on the slightest noise.
Here is a link to info about it. I know you can get it at Babys r Us:http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp…
the best thing that made my life easier was my baby slings and carriers but that just doesn’t seem to be what your looking for the most meaningful gift i got was a cross stitch “birth record” my grandmother she did one for each of my kids it has there name birth date weight and length on it with a cute little baby and stork.
I was going to say Nikki Knits. I love their family matching clothing. I just recently got my niece their Family Matching Bear Pajamas!! So cute one says Papa Bear, one says Mama Bear and the baby set says Baby Bear.
It’s not useful, it’s more of a keepsake.
((I tried looking for it at Things Remembered which is where mine is from but I cannot find it… Sorry)) The same concept could be very nice though.

My aunt bought us a box and engraved it with our sons name and birth date. I have loved it to put his special things in.
I love Things Remembered!! -l0l- I walk in there and always find things I wish I had for my son.
This is neat– It is a train and a few of the compartments open up for a lock of hair, first tooth… It’s a keepsake item I think.
I think the boxes for first lock, tooth, etc are so great to have. && it can be personalized, which is special. Things Remembered again–http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/w…
This is something my son received when he was born from my husbands parents. It’s a personalized cup with his name and birthday. This one is from TR:http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/w…
Ours is from Salisbury Pewter. They have many options:http://salisburypewter.com/catalogs.html
When I was born, my grandparents bought me a baby ring, and a baby bracelet.
Another idea might be to start a collection for her… Such as Precious Moments… It’s something you can continue to give her as she gets older.
Those are just a few ideas…
Congratulations on your new granddaughter!
&& to your daughter as well!
Get her a pendant with a Garnett stone in it. That is the baby’s birthstone. Alternatively, you could get one that hangs down with Your stone, your daughters and your grandaughter’s. 3 generations. that would be something that your daughter would treasure and could pass to her daughter (who could add to it if she so desired)
Congrats Grandma!! hope everyone is healthy and happy!!!
what about a baby book and give her ..her baby book unless you have already done so…do you have any outfits that she wore or one in particular that you could find that would be similar…like for a special picture..both my kids wore the same outfit for their passport photos..and because they are black and white they look the same…it was a sleeper..and i have a boy and a girl…
A gift card and a babysitting coupon, so you can spend time with your new granddaughter, and mom and dad can have an evening out. That is a great gift!! Congratulations, by the way!
Best gift I received was the Bummis cloth diapering kit. Their Super Whisper Wraps are the best and the cotton diapers so soft & fluffy on my baby’s bottom. I have saved so much money not using paper diapers.
A nice baby book–keepsakes.com maybe? They do have some nice ones at bookstores as well. Or you could get her a necklace with the baby’s birthstone on it that she could then give to her daughter on her 16th birthday.
What about a classy diaper bag that both parents can use? I’ve seen some really nice ones that men won’t be ashamed to carry – it’s something that they would be using almost everyday for the next few years!http://www.squidoo.com/mensdiaperbags
A Mommy and Me set would be super fun. They have a ton of stuff at http://www.nikkiknits.com
i got my friend a diaper bag and filled it with things she could really use like bath items and bottles and coupons.
I think one of those diaper cakes are neat
