There a ton of helpful baby gifts that I received or items that I bought for myself.
Here are some of the little things you may not have considered…

The gifts that I liked the most and used the most as a newborn was the swing and the vibrating chair. Both of my kids loved those items the most Also a diaper and wipe organizer was nice for when you do diaper changes other than in the baby’s bedroom. When my son was born I didn’t like leaving my daughter to go and change his diaper so I had the pack and play with the changing station on it and I had a diaper and wipe organizer right near it to make it convenient and nice looking. I also love the pack and play because it kept my babies safe when I had to go and do the laundry or take a shower or go to the bathroom. I think those things are a must with any baby. You can find them at any baby store.
Now if you are looking for something unique I would say a gift Certificate for a picture place to get pictures done because when a new baby is born everyone wants to get pictures done. Or a day out for the Mom because with a newborn they tend to loose themselves with everything going on so if they can get out for a few hours to get either their hair done or their nails or what ever they are in to maybe a massage.
To find a picture place if there is a babiesrus near you with kiddie kandids inside they do awesome pictures or picture people they are pretty good to or JCpenny’s, Sears and I hear Walmart is good too. For the Spa day go to the place she use to go to and get it from there or go to a really nice one and get it from there.
A baby monitor and white noise machine have been useful to have–really help during nap/bed time.
Also plain, white onesies in larger sizes (6 mths +)–good for layering.
A good infant tub–we have the Eurobath and are still using it at 10 mths (and can see using it for quite some time to come!). It is big and bulky, but we love it (and live in a small 1/1 apt to boot).
Organic/non-toxic, perfume-free baby products such as soap, shampoo, sunscreen and diaper ointment (usually found in health food stores).
Forgot to add: food for the new mom! Soooo helpful in the early weeks. And the Miracle Blanket has gotten rave reviews for swaddling!
BIG receiving blankets. Not tiny ones that will only last until the baby is 2 months old. But large receiving blankets that are 36″ by 36″ or bigger. These can be used for years and great for swaddling, great for a summer blanket in the crib, great for diapering your baby on.
You can find at Target or Walmart.
If you know the person well, and know what their money situation is, go by that. If they need help in that area, buy lots of diapers and wipes, or a gift certificate. They normally get lost of clothes. If she is going to nurse, I would get a Boppy Pillow, a Snuggli is great, or a bouncy chair,
A swing. Our neighbors let us borrow their’s for awhile because we didn’t get one at the shower. It has been a lifesaver.
It would have also been nice if someone offered to bring some meals, come over and do some laundry, anything! I was so exhausted those first few weeks that the house work just piled up. Between taking care of the baby and myself being sick I just didn’t have the energy to do much else.
swaddle me blankets, you can get them at babies r us they are made by kiddopotamus if you dont have a babiesrus closeby you can check online. they are great cause babies have a lot of reflex jerky movenments when tey sleep, and they wake up because of it.
A baby layette gift set would be most helpful. It consist of a baby bib, body suits, booties & mittens. Some baby layette gift sets has a baby album with it. You can check this out http://www.babylandgifts.com/baby-gift-s…
My boppy pillow! I got it at my shower and 4 months later I still use it and I bottle feed (its not just for breastfeeding moms). I see boppy pillows everywhere from burlington coat factory to babies r us. They range from 25 to 50 dollars.
a bouncy chair w/vibration. There’s a few hanging toys, too. We didn’t register for it but someone got it for us anyway. We absolutely LOVE that thing and so does our daughter! It was bought at Target. Babies R Us has them too.
I agree with all of the others. But, a diaper genie is great to have! It keeps the stinky diapers out of your other trash and keeps the smell down a little. They always can use diapers too!
A baby sling.
I think lightly padded ring slings are easiest for new parents to use.
Im only 9wks prego but my sis in law said a diaper wipe warmer was her life saver!!! The baby wasnt as cranky when she changed his diaper I guess b/c he didnt like cold wipes! They are only about $20 at Walmart!
SwaddleMe swaddler – Great for a nice tight swaddle on the baby.
Happiest Baby on the Block DVD – Great education on soothing fussy babies.
the best gift I got was diapers.. I was surprised how many diapers we went through my daughter was only 1 week old..
also diaper genie was good
Also mittens.. she had long nails and i scratched her face all day long before them
yes the most helpful gift I have received is diapers…I think that is self explanatory.
A diaper genie
I have to agree on the diapers. It was nice while they lasted. Some guy at work bought a case of size 1s or 2s that was great!
cloth diapers or burp pads.. JC PENNEY
I requested every teen I know, “For those who had a present card to spend in a toy retailer, what would you get?” I used to be shocked to seek out out that they’d need more than video games! This is a list of toys I like for teens, in no particular order. (And no eye rolling! I promise.)
The most recent in Scorching Wheels offerings to the youngsters is a playset called Slimecano, yes, the name comes from Slime & Volcano! Throw in some sizzling wheels automobiles and you get a perfect recipe for achievement! Simply what little boys love! Try this review and resolve whether or not to buy it or not!
Thanks for the great write-up. , Content is good. I’d hope to be again tracking.
