A small bouquet of flowers and gift card that way she can get what she needs!
give 50 dollars for walmart target or a baby store and dipers and baby soaps and what not make it nice with a basket and ribbons. or just give them the 100 dollars and let them do what they wish most people have everything they need but would like to just order dinner in and stuff because they are just to tired to cook
Is this the new mom’s first baby? If so maybe she needs a stroller, or a car seat. The diaper genie is nice too. It keeps the diapers from smelling until you take the to the outside trash. Also, there are all kinds of crib toys/mobiles. If nothing else, give her the cash. Flowers just die.
Well Im a new mom and I suggest you buy her a big basket with the baby essentials including: diapers (dont get newborn sizes they really grow out of it so fast) alot of diapers (I just found out they’re really expensive!!) onesies, alot of receiving blankets, baby medicine, a few cute outfits, baby wash, shampoo, powder, baby oil, nursing pads, baby hangers, and things like that.I could tell you what I didnt have much use for I got a baby tub and used it twice,I have a 3 in 1 playpen crib changing pad never used. Its so much easier whenhe sleeps with me on my bed.But it could be different with her,she might have someone else sleeping on the bed.I dont because my husband is in the Army and he’s not with me
Dont get the big things.Leave that up to her.I dont suggest getting her a gift certificate. To me it was alot nicer and made me happier that I didnt have to go to the store with a newborn to get alot of his essentials.I got most of it from my baby shower.I did get one gift certificate and I didnt end up using it entirely on my baby but with the gifts atleast you know her baby will be using it.Dont get toys,or blankets,or stuffed animals.I got so many blankets alot are just in the closet, but the receiveing blankets are great get those.Dont get any flowers what will her baby use those for.Get something her baby can use.Just go to the baby section and you could get some good ideas from there too.Well hope this helped a little.Bye <3 New Mommy
NOOO don’t waste all that money on a flower bouquet! The new mom/dad to be will need something more valuable. If you can, see if they have a baby registry. With all that money you could get them something really nice – car seat, stroller, tons of clothes, baby monitor, etc.
baby pram? that’s what we got for one of our colleague. I also think that a gift certificate would also be nice, it allows the parents to get whatever necessities for their newborn.
For any body I know who has just had a baby I like to put together a gift basket. I always try to put items I know they will use and it probably won’t matter if the parents have 2 of the same thing. The last one I made up had diapers, wipes, bath soap, shampoo, rash ointment, baby oil, receiving blankets, and things like that.
I suggest either a diaper cake, if you want to give something nice looking, but practical. Flowers are going to die and not be of any good to the baby.
I suggest going out and buying a pop up hamper ($5.00), a bottle of dreft laundry detergent ($10), a bottle of dreft stain remover ($5), a box of size 1-2 Huggies Diapers ($30), A box of wipes ($5), A bottle brush ($2), 5pk of onesies 3-6months are the best ($10), Johnson’s head to toe body wash ($5), The safety first deluxe baby grooming kit ($15), 3pack of bibs ($7), A package of 2 pacifiers ($5). This is all an estimate of course, but these are things that I wish I had gotten at my baby shower. Just the little things that most people forget. Just put it all in the pop up hamper and you have a great really practical gift. You get a lot out of the $100, and the new mom will appreciate all of the little things and with a new baby these are all the little things that add up.Good luck!
With 100.00 you can buy the new baby a 200.00 US Savings Bond..Go to your local bank and they will advise you..may need to wait till baby is born because you have to put the babies name on the bond…
Don’t waste the money on flowers…they just look pretty and die. Diapers, wipes, gift card, anything on their registry at a store. With $100 you can get them something big and useful…are they registered? That can be a play pen, stroller, bouncy chair, swing, etc.
Get her some small things like:
1) a pacifier with a clip (I got a great one with a teddy bear clip from my work collegues, was a godsend!)
2) bottle brush
3) Dr. Brown’s 4-oz bottle
4) a cute little sleeper
Then, give her a gift certificate to a big chain like Babies R Us, b/c you don’t know what else she’s gotten from friends/family.
You can do one of two things — either put the money on a gift card at Walmart, Target or your local baby store, or go to Walmart or Target and put together a gift basket — diapers, baby wipes, bibs, pacifiers, bottles, blankets, crib sheets, etc. If you don’t know what all she has already, go the gift card route. Either way, she will really appreciate it.
When I had my last baby, I worked in a two person office, and they chipped in and bought him a silver baby spoon and had his name and birthdate engraved on it.
My work gave me an exersaucer. Which I didn’t even know I needed until it was time to use it! It’s an activity center! It’s awesome. The baby can begin using it at about 4 mos. My dauther used hers until 9 mos. It’s so great.
Don’t buy anything too personal that they might want to pick out themselves…such as a baby monitor…my husband wanted to pick this out since he knows electronics. Some won’t work with certain cordless phones or wireless set ups etc. Diaper bags are personal as are bottles. Clothes she will get a ton of…most aren’t used cause the baby grows too fast. I received 3 bath tubs, of course you only need one! People like to fill them like baskets. I like the idea of diapers and a diaper pale, but again mother’s are particular about which diapers they use. I loved pampers, my best friend liked huggies.
just some things to think about.
Diapers!!!! I recieved so many diapers that I didn’t have to buy a package until she was almost 3 mos old!!!! And if you use that money to buy in bulk…You’ll get an even better deal. And she will thank you. at wal-mart, you could buy her 10-15 pkgs of diapers with that. You’ll be her lifesaver.
Get a diaper bag and stuff all the pockets with tons of the little stuff that most ppl might not think of….bibs, cloth diapers, pacifiers, onesies, socks, washcloths, wipes, little toys, pacifier clip, diaper rash medicine, teething medicine, teething tablets, baby wash. Things like that.
Please dont waste all that money on flowers, they could use it so much more on other stuff.
I would give them a gift certificate for diapers. If you go to pampers.com you can buy gift certificates for diapers, this way when she goes to the store she is getting the diapers she wants. When I had my kids I very much enjoyed the diaper cakes, but they weren’t cost effective, yes I know it was a gift, but I would have loved the certificates or diapers that hadn’t been touched…
My other suggestion is to see if she has a gift registery.
get something useful please. find out where the mom is registered and get her either one big thing or a bunch of little things off her list. They do make diaper cakes you can buy inline and have delivered. They are sooooo cute. see webpage below.
I’m not exactly a lady but with a newborn, I would give them a $100 gift certificate to a Walmart or Target. That way they can go out and buy something useful that they need.
send a basket of lotions for the baby and the mom along with soaps for both, bath toys lavender oils or bath salts for mom. She will need relaxation, candles. Also a great gift i received was a basket full of safety items. electric plug fillers, cabinets safety latches And a small back up baby bag with a diaper, cleaning cloths etc… to keep in car for emergencies
Maybe some baby clothes would be more useful. Baby’s first little outfit
I was gonna say maybe a bassinet but the first guy had a good answer. Just get a gift certificate. I would say Target or Babies R Us.
Get the mom a gift certificate to a spa somewhere in your area. She probably has already gotten lots of stuff for the baby, but it’s hard when you’re a new mom. She should get something too, I think. (sounds like this is for a co-worker who just had a baby?)
I occasionally sell large diaper bags full of things. I usually charge around $70, depending on the brands I put in. You could buy a large diaper bag from wal mart (the largest available) And put in it the following:
Hand sanitazer
Travel pack of wet ones
orthadontic binky
pack of socks (2 in a pack)
2 small bottles
a booger sucker
1 or a pack of “onsies”
Burp rag
bottle cleaner
baby lotion -
baby wash -I recommend huggies lavender & chamomile
baby powder – Usually I get the large
baby oil – usually i get a travel size.
receiving blanket
mylecon (for gas, it can be used on even the newest of newbrons)
crib pads, (so that if the baby wets of spits up it won’t soak through the bed)
Nail clippers (baby ones of course)
thermometer
Get creative but keep it useful. Then the money that is left over, put it on a walk mart, target k mart, ect gift card. So many times ppl have given me things like flowers of teddy bears when I was preg and they are just not useful and a waste of money. Booger suckers, nail clippers, thermometer ect are all needed but often not thought of. To make it easier wal mart has premade kits, like the medicine kit, nail care kits, body wash & lotion kits. You can buy those and put it in the diaper bag. And the idea to a large diaper bag is to hold all the esssentials (there are so many). You can buy a small pack of newborn or size 1 diapers as well.
For $100 hit wal mart, and you will have an awesome gift!
She will appreciate the much needed supplies, and then the extra cash on a gift card for something she would like to get the baby – or treat her to a dinner with it. Get her a gift card to the nail salon with the left over. Or give her the straight left over cash in a card.
In my experience they all love what I call the “gifting diaper bag” – and it is stuff they will actually use!
Baby monitor….a good one. They have really cool Bottle and nipple sanitizers by EvenFlo also. Everyone needs a carseat…..stroller, clothes….cmon, you guys can get more creative then flowers.
I would say either get a gift card or buy a crib set or something. My some diapers. or just some really cute outfits. You can also buy something that she might not need right now but will later like a high chair or and exersaucer or something!
Put together a basket of random baby needs. Wash cloths and baby shampoo, nail clippers, thermometer, pacifiers, diapers, wipes, a few outfits…all the things someone might not register for, but will need.
I have a five month old and got a similar gift. It came in handy!
