In Your Opinion, How Far Along In The Pregnacy Is It Acceptable To Start A Baby Gift Registry?
Socially acceptable, really… without looking like a materialistic new mom.
The problem is, I’m only 13 weeks along and my family starts Christmas shopping VERY early (as in, they already started)… and I don’t want anything for me this year, just baby-stuff because we don’t have anything! (First baby).
Any thoughts would help,

Why can you not just tell people that instead of buying for you to buy baby things to help out. I think registry’s are rude.. My partner and i spend $20 every week on baby things and at 13weeks we have heaps.
An intelligent question deserves an intelligent answer.
At 13 weeks (which is 3 months) and providing you believe your unborn fetus will survive the birthing, then I think you can begin notifying folks of this registry.
Keep in mind, many things you may not need new, because a baby only occupies a crib for about 5 years or less, a high chair for the same, a baby toilet for the same, a car seat for the same, etc. You can pick up these items via relatives who don’t use them anymore, same same for yard/garage sales, and the newspaper classified ads. You’ll save money and usually these items only need minor touch-up paint and some tightening of the nuts and bolts.
So at 13 weeks you should go ahead and tell these folks you have a registry for your unborn fetus and you’d like for them to use it.

I am 31 weeks and this is my first baby I still don’t have everything but trust me you will get everything you need don’t worry about it. But to keep you from worrying I think it is fine to start it….congrats
You can start as soon as you like. The only problem you may run into is that some items may become discontinued or not available anymore. Some things are just seasonal items.
Well i would say when you find out the sex of the baby unless you are planning not to find out then i suggest starting one asap and if it is your family they should understand that you only want things for the baby so i would go ahead and tell them where you plan to register if they want to get you something that you willl need tell them it would be extremely helpful
personally, i don’t say anything, or do shopping until after 3mths. after that whenever you comfortable is fine. i don’t think there is a standard
You can start as soon as you like but “socially” you shouldn’t register until towards the end of the 2nd trimester but since it is family it should be ok to tell them your wishes beforehand…
it depends. some ppl are supersicious and won’t buy anything until the baby is born cause anything could happen, even right up to birth.
i had a baby shower at 8 monts had had a still born. i’m prego now (12 weeks) but i’m not having a baby shower anymore but a welcome baby (after the baby is born).
if i were confident that everything would be ok, i would start buying stuff the minute i found out i was prego. lol
so go with your gut feeling. i didn’t think anything would go wrong with my first pregnancy but it did. now lol i’m doing things different.
about 6months plus. means u can find out gender of baby too…
I started puting one together earlier about 3-4 months as I saw stuff that i wanted. then people could save money for it if is a bigger ticket item.
I would say any time after the 12th week, when the pregnancy is well established and you’ve told everyone that your pregnant. Just because you’ve started the registry doesn’t mean you have to tell everyone about it. Just let them know you’ve done a registry, IF they ask about anything you want or need….
Honestly i made mine when i was only about 11 weeks along i think… sometime around then. Actually my dad started it up for me , which i thought was sweet. I havent really put that much on it yet though because i dont know the sex of my baby yet, but i find out tomorrow! Start making your registry as soon as you want to. If someone asks, then give it to them. If they dont ask, then just let them get what they want to get you. All gifts for baby are nice, some come from the list, some are handmade, and all of them from the heart
