How Much To Spend For A Baby Shower Gift?
My old best friend is having a baby shower soon. I am not sure how much is a good/acceptable amount to spend on the gift as I have never been to a baby shower before. We only talk about once a month now, but were really close. I am a full time student so don’t have much income coming in.. What do you think is good? P.S. She is registered at Target
Just get her what you can afford. Trust me anything that you can give her, she will be thankful for. My sugestion is buy her diapers and wipes. You can NEVER have too many diapers and wipes!
you can also offer to do something for her: my friend who is a photographer took pictures of my 3 week old today. Or put together a scrapbook of pictures and cards from the baby shower.
I think $30 – $40 is too much to spend if you’re a student. I would suggest getting creative. You could make a gift certificate to clean her house once or babysit or make the family a dinner if you live close by. If you don’t live close, then I would just get her the cheapest thing on the Target registry with a very nice note.
maybe some diapers and a little outfit would be good or diapers and some bottles or diaper and undershirts
something i got as a gift which was great was a baby book ..you know those ones where you write how much your baby weighs, and what time it was born.. and first b-dai first xmas ..first tooth..ect.
like others have said nappies or wipes are good too..or a cute outfit.
an other gift i recived which i really liked..was thing lady she didnt have much money..but she knew i was pregnant..so she’d been collecting good little cheap gifts and then she put them on a basket with clear paper and a big blue ribbon, it was so cute and had such good things in it.
just get creative if you can not afford much.
Pull up her registry and pick out a couple of things on your price range. You could buy her a cute outfit for cheap and get her some diapers… she will be very happy! You can even go to the dollar store and get some REALLY cute outfits for very cheap and they are absolutely adorable! Dont have to spend to much to get an awesome gift… babies are so easy to shop for.
The nice thing with baby stuff, is lots of things cost like $10 or less…that being said, you can get her like one item thats like $10 or perhaps get several friends to go in on a bigger gift.
Whatever you go with, get it from Target and get a gift reciept…that way if she gets duplicates she can return them. I got 3 of a pink baby bath robe at my shower…it was exciting. The #1 safest gift is diapers. A pack of them are between $10-15.
You can get an good outfit for about 15 bucks there, or a two pack of sleepers or some bath stuff. You can get creative. They even have baby stuff at dollar stores now, just make sure it is safe.
A great baby shower gift doesn’t always need to be expensive. Besides she will appreciate any gift you give her. My cousin got my a really cute outfit for my daughter and she also got me these closet orangizer things that organize the clothes by size. It was something that never crossed my mind but was very very useful and she only spent $30 on everything. Another favorite gift I got that was cheap was an underwear bear that was meant for assisting in potty training. She also gave me a book of stamps inside a book she bought for my baby and inside she wished my daughter a lifetime of wonderful stories to read and tell as well.. it was very personal and thoughtful. And the stamps , well, they were very much appreciated when I had to send out thank-you cards. You could also get her something just for herself. Maybe a gift certificate to have her hair cut before baby comes so she feels even more amazing after baby is born. I hope you find the right gift and remember that any gift is honestly very much appreciated.
Get her something between 30-40 dollars. You can go to walmart and find something. Since you are no longer close that is a reasonable price range.
I would either pick a few small things and wrap it to look like it was done professionally. It sounds weird but even if you know how much someone spent, but the wrap job is amazing it seems like sooo much for $, or get one thing ofr like 40$. I know it sounds odd, but wrapping can really throw a person off of the dollar amount, even if they know how much was spent.
I had my first baby in February…and trust me, I didn’t keep tabs on how much everyone spent. All gifts are greatly appreciated. If your friend knows your tight budget, then she isn’t expecting a car seat. Just get what you can afford!!!! You have this baby’s lifetime to shower her with gifts when you have more money coming in! Good luck!
Just get her something off her registry that you think she will really need. 50-100 is a good amount to spend. if you weren’t in school i would go higher since you are best friends. Just to let you know though an expensive gift isn’t what she will need after the baby is born. She will need your friendship for the days when she is exhausted and feels like she has no friends anymore. Make sure you let her know that if she needs you even for 10 minutes so she can grab a shower you will be there for her.
