How Much Is A Reasonable Amount To Spend On A Baby Shower Gift?

If details matter, it’s for an old friend and his wife. We are all in our 20s and I am a single girl
Thanks for your thoughts. :-)

I’d say $20-$30 is reasonable. If you have extra money or want to be especially generous, then you could do more. But I think $20-$30 is normal.

Whatever is meaningful to you … like $10 or $20 tops.
What is more important is if it is clever and resonates with your friend.
So think of something sort of obscure that connects with your friend and is “outside the box” instead of a common gift, and just do it.
A few months ago I gave a big box of wipes and a large bottle of champagne (from Sam’s) to a couple … something they could really use and it was a big hit. Not expensive but they appreciated it.
The only thing they are thinking of is their future “bundle of joy” anyway, so don’t stress out.

hehe I starred this question because I was pondering the same thing earlier today when I went to buy my cousin a baby shower gift. I spent 44$ on a really soft blanket and a cuddly matching type stuffie that plays music and hangs in the crib.
I think it’s a reasonable price to pay even though we are not very close…
It was so hard though! lol we are both having our shower on the same day together :S and I only wanted to buy something for my babe lol.
If I weren’t okay with money, I might spend 20-25 dollars on a bunch of small but useful items from dollar type stores.
If you are pretty comfortable with money I’d say a good price range is 25-50 dollars.
    Good luck :)

i would say if a gift card $25 min… but if u pick up random stuff like a gift set of shampoos, or stuff in a gift set they usually run like $15-17 and they look like u spent more… trust me im still using that gift set i recieve on my 13 month old and he gets a bath nightly
but as far as maximum goes… spend how much u want everything is welcome
a cute thought is to make something my moms friend crosstitched a beautiful picture with our sons name in it and i love it
    thought and keepsakes are loved

Well it depends on how much you can spend.
I usually give a 20-30dll gift. Unless it’s a really good friend or relative.
I went to my cousin’s shower a couple of months ago, we’re very close so i spent 50dlls
I don’t think age matters, btw.

thirty bucks. that can get alot in baby bathing products, pacifiers, bottles, onsies on sale, and a nice layette set.

  7. Romey says:

Personally, I would say about 20 dollars if you can afford it. Since it’s for your friend, I would ask what they need ( I got a bunch of the same stuff at my shower).

  8. Salim says:

$20-$30 is average. If you have a good relationship, $50 is reasonable.

For an old friend, I usually spend around $40-50. For everyone else, it’s typically $25-35.

  11. RICHARD says:

    Less than $50
    Usually 25 or so.
Wife has gone to 100 lol
    Well close to that anyway.

    $20-$40 is probably the lowest

that depends on what you want to buy and what you can afford to spend!!!!!!

  14. Richard B says:

    Certainly not more than $25.00.

  15. Tiffany says:

    35.00-40.00

  16. hstris says:

I would say at least $25.00 if you don’t have much money to spare….more if you do.
