How Much Cash To Give As A Christmas Gift To Our Baby Sitter?
I have already gotten her a $50 giftcard for a purse shop.
I want to give her a little cash as well. how much is appropriate? she is about 50 yrs old, she s watching 5 kids including mine.
We started using her care since this Oct. so it has been almost two months
I
I think the $50 is a great gift for her esp when she has only had the child 2 months. Its the thought that counts, I think it’s sweet you are giving her something and I am sure she will feel the same way
Here is a good way to figure out what is appropriate, I just seen this on a morning talk show…
Any person that provides you with less than 1 hour service per day gets 10% of what you pay them in a year.
Any person that provides you with more than 1 hour service but less than 5 hours gets 15% of what you pay them in a year.
Any person that provides you with more than 5 hours of service per day gets 20% of what you pay them in a year.
This was just a guide and you can do whatever you want, but I thought it sounded good. A child care provider is someone that you should be very greatful for, they spend a lot of time with your children when you are at work! I think that is very valuable!
Merry Christmas!
Hi~
The gift certificate is a very generous and thoughtful gift; especially since she has only been with you for a little less than 2 months.
Some tend to get very uncomfortable when they are given too much of a gift – especially if she does not have a gift for you in return
Take care.
As a daycare provider, I think the gift you have gotten her is generous in itself. Don’t stress so much over the gift….A genuine thank you would be very appreciated.
Cash is always a good option though. LOL
in my etiquette book it says a full days worth of pay to give as a gift for the holidays
edit:
so if you pay her $100 a day give her $50 since you already got her a $50 gift card
How about the $50.00 gift certificate and $25.00 or $50.00 for cash to be spent as she wishes.
Isn’t a $50 giftcard for a purse shop enough??
I agree with Treasure….$25.00-$50.00.
