Baby Shower Gift From A Guy For His Supervisor!?
I have been to two other baby showers and I gave clothes but this is my supervisor who is really nice and pleasant to work for. I do live in New York City so if anyone know any good places to get a baby shower gift or any ideas on what to get her I would greatly appreciate it. THE MAX AMOUNT AM WILLING TO SPEND IS ABOUT $100 DOLLARS. The shower’s in about two weeks!
People, this is the *man’s* supervisor. Some of the suggestions are off base, IMO. You can’t give her a spa treatment and you should get her something more personal than diapers. Sheez!!
It is a touchy area though because she is your super and you don’t want to seem too personal and yet not personal enough. When I was preg, my DH workers bought us board books. I loved it! It is something that most people don’t think of but yet are so very useful, not to mention the cost really adds up. So that is my suggestion… books. Authors like Sandra Boynton are a must. Goodnight Moon, Time for Bed, and anything else you find.
ETA… I do want to add that I think $100 is too much to spend. Something along the lines of $30 is much more appropriate.
If you have a local photography studio, a gift certificate to have some baby pics taken is a fantastic gift.
A few people from my office went in on a gift certificate for me when I was pregnant. I never even thought of this kind of present before, you know you expect the norm, clothes, toys, etc. But this was by far the very best shower gift I received. I was able to take the baby when we were ready, to have precious pictures taken that I will have forever!! If you can do it, your manager would love it, I promise.
Find out if she has a baby registry (through Babies R Us or some place like that). That is by far the easiest way to buy for a baby shower. It will have everything she wants for the baby. You can pick some items off of the list and during checkout give the sheet to the cashier to scan, those items come off of the registry as items purchased. If not you can buy things like gift cards, diapers, clothes, blankets, gift sets, baby books, toys, etc.
There is a gadget called Itzbeen Baby Care Timer which has several timers to remind a new parent to do a diaper change, feed the baby or do something important for the baby. A new parent tends to become forgetful, as there are just so many things happening all at the same time. So this gadget will be very useful for someone with a new baby.
If she’s not registered anywhere, then a gift certificate is the way to go. Toy’s r us is good, they have a wonderful selection of baby items that your boss can choose from.
I got a few gift cards at my shower, and they were very appreciated.
Diapers are always appreciated. Swaddling blankets and sleep sacks are wonderful for those first couple of months. If she doesn’t have one, what about a neat diaper bag? Then fill it with the necessities(diapers, wipes, creams, etc.)
Is it a boy or girl? Do they have a name picked out? If so you could get personailized items. Or you could get a wagon or bassinet and fill it full of items such as pacifiers, bottles, blankets, picture frames, diapers etc

How about a giftcard for a spa? They do offer pregnancy massages etc.. You know, something she will enjoy as opposed to something for baby… There are a lot of “sore spots” associated with pregnancy
Etiquette states that it is inappropriate for an employee to give a gift to his/her boss. Your boss shouldn’t be expecting his/her employees to buy them gifts.
Does she have a baby registry? You should try and find out so you can pick up something that she wants.
How about a gift certificate to any baby store so she can purchase whatever she needs that she may not recieve?
