Baby Shower Etiquette: When Is It Appropriate To Give The Hostesses A Thank You Gift?

Some kind people are throwing me a shower today and my mother and I have conflicting views on when I should give them the gifts and cards to thank them. I think that I should do it after the shower, but my mother says that they want the focus to be on me and the baby today so I should wait until Monday. Either way, not the biggest deal in the world.
