I’m sending several friends who just had babies several gifts each . . . the gifts include clothes, christmas ornaments, and some first aid equipment. They’re kind of tricky to wrap with paper and I don’t think that a gift bag would survive inside the box.
Do you think that I need to wrap the gifts?

Do family members normally give a gift to the mum when the baby is born, or only at the bridal shower. Also, as I am male, do I send a gift to the bridal shower?
And what are nice presents to give for the baby? I think maybe just a gift voucher for a baby store, what do you think?
Thanks clever people!

Where I come from, there is no such thing as a baby shower. When the mother delivers her baby, her family and close friends would visit her in the hospital and take flowers and/or chocolate with them. The chocolate and flowers would usually be presented in a “decorative” way to welcome the new baby; for example, a pink teddy with flowers for a baby girl. The guests would be served sweets which are also especially made to welcome the new baby (kind of like wedding favors but pink or blue). When the mother goes home with her baby, her family, close friends, and everyone else would visit her and take gifts… the gifts are usually baby stuff such as toys, clothes, etc. The price of the gift is usually determined by your financial status and how close you are to the mother of the baby. The mother does not choose her gifts or register at any place. Instead, she accepts and appreciates all gifts she receives, whether she needs them or not… Further, unless the gift giver is really close with the mom, the gift would be opened after the guest(s) leave(s).

I am going to one of my best friend’s baby shower, and I really want to get her something that is really practical and helpful. I have already bought a cute little outfit, but I would love some ideas from moms and what their favorite gifts were! Thanks!
p.s. it’s a boy!

I don’t know much, but here is what I found:
“Among Hindus in India, religious rituals resembling modern baby showers are held during the seventh month of pregnancy. In earlier times it was a function which was organized and attended by women only, but in recent years, due to India’s level of western influence, both genders are often included.”
