Our mother passed away in June so this Christmas will be hard for us all and wanted to make it special for my sister. She is not far enough along in her pregnancy to know the sex of the baby.

I haven’t seen or really spoken to my ex in about four years (we ended things pretty amicably), and I just got an email sent from his new wife’s email address containing photos of their new baby (a boy). I would like to send a gift either just for the new mother (who I have never met) or for both parents, but I want it to be personal yet appropriate given the fact that I’m the ex-girlfriend. Any ideas?

We are throwing my son a small first birthday party and I’m writing up the invites right now. I do not want people to feel obligated to bring him a gift. I just want people to come to share in his special day.
I thought of writing in the invite:
“Please only spoil me with your time and attention.”
My husband thinks that writing this will not deter people from bringing a gift. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

My son is turning 1 on 4th July and some of my friends have asked me what he would like as a birthday gift. I dont know what to ask for. I dont want to ask for something very expensive at the same time, I want it to be useful. Can anyone help?
Also, I need ideas for a birthday cake.

I am planning on having a party for my daughters first birthday in May. Is it wrong for me to make a registry? I just think it would be easier for everyone to see what my daughter needs but of coarse, personal gifts are always welcome. Did you make a registry for your baby’s first birthday? Do you think it is a good idea? Or do you think it is rude?

my father in-law always give gold as a gift. it can be a ring or a necklace. and according to him… people from old days used to do that.
perhaps it’s traditional. but as years passes. people become practical that they give money instead, which can be more helpful & easy to use. in addition to that korean people are getting more & more busy these days that they don’t & won’t find time to go shopping mall to buy gift… so they just give money & put them in an envelope like what my husband & i normally do.
