Something he can pound on and makes lots of noise like a toy tool bench or a small ride-on toy with lots of buttons and noisemakers. This age likes to make tons of noise and they are just learning the idea of cause and effect so the more buttons, levers, knobs, the better.
Kids at this age won’t show much interest in their gifts unless they immediately catch their attention with music or noise!
I just bought a 1 yr old boy gift today at Toys r us for a party this weekend and I bought the Mickey Fire Engine Team Activity Ride On because it looked like tons of fun and had the most buttons and sounds on it plus it came with a cool mickey helmet! Who can resist.
My son recieved one similar to this for his 1st birthday (his was something called ‘music van’ and all the buttons playes music with different instruments) and he STILL LOVES to play with it and he is almost 5!
Hope this helps!!

We are throwing my son a small first birthday party and I’m writing up the invites right now. I do not want people to feel obligated to bring him a gift. I just want people to come to share in his special day.
I thought of writing in the invite:
“Please only spoil me with your time and attention.”
My husband thinks that writing this will not deter people from bringing a gift. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We’re going to a small birthday gathering for a lady from church whose baby is turning 1. She also has a daughter who will be 4 in December. Would it be appropriate to get a small gift for the older sibling. And by small I mean like a cheapy $1 princess jewelry set from the dollar store or something. My husband says “no, just get a gift for the 1 year old. Kids need to learn they can’t always get gifts at a birthday party.” Besides, my almost 3 year old is friends with the almost 4 year old so I thought it would be kind of cool for my daughter to give something to her. Appropriate or not?

I am planning on having a party for my daughters first birthday in May. Is it wrong for me to make a registry? I just think it would be easier for everyone to see what my daughter needs but of coarse, personal gifts are always welcome. Did you make a registry for your baby’s first birthday? Do you think it is a good idea? Or do you think it is rude?

my father in-law always give gold as a gift. it can be a ring or a necklace. and according to him… people from old days used to do that.
perhaps it’s traditional. but as years passes. people become practical that they give money instead, which can be more helpful & easy to use. in addition to that korean people are getting more & more busy these days that they don’t & won’t find time to go shopping mall to buy gift… so they just give money & put them in an envelope like what my husband & i normally do.
